The Artist

“I have always been drawn to ancient coins: I love their weathered authenticity and how- as if reaching through time- you can feel the imprint of the hand that shaped them. I sculpt in clay with simple tools used since the Middle Ages to retain the unique character of hand-crafted work. 

My designs are inspired by universal myths, legends and symbols, My intention is to make timeless and meaningful Talismans with deep personal meaning to remind yourself of who you are and the things you really care about.” Carolina Wickenburg

Carolina was born in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the US at an early age. After graduating with a degree in psychology she worked in the field for a few years but always practiced sculpting as well. She then moved to New York City, where she met her Austrian husband, an Architect, and raised two sons, while sculpting full- time.

After many years of working with large bronzes (see large sculpture gallery), Carolina decided to combine her passion for sculpture and jewelry and started making her distinct hand-sculpted pieces…
