INSPIRATION: the ancient Egyptian Goddess Taweret, known as a protective deity for women and children, and the ancient blue faience Hippopotamus from Egypt, from 1961 BC nicknamed ‘William’. He was seen as a symbol of rebirth and is now the mascot for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
DIMENSIONS: Each Hippo is 13.5mm long, 6.5 mm high and 5mm wide on a 1.3mm thick 17” long round cable chain.
My hand-sculpted Hippos are solid and weighty for the size. Both the Hippos and the chain are hand- finished in a buttery semi- matte finish.
