Hand-sculpted donkey pendant.

INSPIRATION: The donkey, unlike his proud and warlike equine cousin, is a peaceful creature. A constant in the Mediterranean landscape of Greece, he has always been a symbol of tranquil humility as well as an emblem of strength and patient endurance, who will carry you safely through life’s steepest gorges and wildest crags. In the Christian faith, Christ enters Jerusalem on the back of a donkey to signify the peaceful nature of his mission. When Jesus was crucified, a young donkey kept faithful watch beside him until the shadow of the cross was seared into its back, which is said to account for the distinctive markings all donkeys bear. This event is represented by the cross in this custom pendant, alongside the olive branch and the Greek name ειρήνη (Eirene)  which designated the ancient goddess of peace.”

The pendant, Amy’s Donkey, is part of the limited number series (only 175 will be made and each piece will be numbered in the backk).
